G.M. Entertains New Offer for Saab

E-mail

Detroit - A spokesman for G.M. said that the small and relatively unknown Dutch automaker, Spyker Cars, has presented a revised offer to buy the iconic Swedish automobile manufacturer, Saab.  After rejecting Spyker's original offer, G.M.'s hard-nosed negotiating tactics seem to have paid off.  G.M. is showing renewed interest in the deal since Spyker sweetened its offer by including a 1952 Mickey Mantle in fair-to-good condition, some 8-track tapes of various Dutch pop music artists, and a used table lamp that's "sort of interesting in an ugly, retro-chic kind of way".  "Our guys know a thing or two about negotiating" said G.M. spokesman, Chris Preuss.  "The 8-tracks are of particular interest since the deal still includes the old stereo that was the centerpiece of Spyker's original offer and, as it turns out, the thing only plays 8-tracks".  Preuss also confirmed that the original deal fell through when it turned out that the 23 football cards that Spyker was offering along with the stereo were, in fact, what Americans would call soccer cards.
