For years Google has celebrated holidays and other events by altering their logo to incorporate various objects and themes.  Though this began with designs that would cleverly replace letters in the logo with similarly shaped objects, it is clear that Google is no longer putting any effort what-so-ever into the designs as they have deteriorated into virtually any image with a "G" and an "e" simply placed on either side of it.  The inability of this one-time global powerhouse to produce even sophomoric graphic art for the company's primary interface with the public has lead many in the industry to conclude that the Internet behemoth is now merely a shell of its former self.
