Is BP Oil Slick Avoiding Louisiana?

E-mail

Gulf of Mexico oil spillAfter three weeks of hovering just off the coast of Louisiana, the massive BP oil slick has yet to make landfall in a significant way prompting analysts to wonder if tourists aren't the only ones reluctant to visit the Pelican State these days.  "We are open for business" insisted Governor Bobby Jindal, "and New Orleans is as inviting and exciting as ever!"  But tourism continues to be depressed as the Crescent City and nearby coastal areas try to recover from Katrina amidst a global recession.  However the oil presumably does not suffer from a lack of disposable income and it is experiencing its first freedom in millions of years since the pipeline's Spring "break" started three week ago.  So why doesn't it want to enjoy it's newly acquired freedom in New Orleans or on a sunny Gulf Coast beach?  According to Jindal, "So far, in that regard, we've been lucky; but also a little bit insulted".
