President Obama announced that his administration would be lifting the restriction on off-shore oil and gas exploration but only in the coastal waters of the Red States.  The Blue State coastlines of New England, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and the entire West Coast shall remain under Federal protection while an area that corresponds exactly to the coast of the old Confederacy (minus much of Florida) is now up for grabs.  Obama's you-wanted-it-so-YOU-got-it approach has prompted the many vigorous proponents of drilling in the Republican party to respond with an underwhelming and somewhat befuddled "Thank you?"
